The Christopher McGrath Bursary

The Bursary
The Christopher McGrath Bursary has been established by Dr.  Christopher McGrath, an Oral and 
Maxillofacial Surgeon and Old Boy of Melbourne High School, in support of students experiencing financial hardship and who come from the Western suburbs of Melbourne. The Bursary will favour students who have demonstrated academic achievement and who have an interest in the Air Force Cadets, Army Cadets or Military Band. The bursary will be administered by the Melbourne High School Foundation.

What can the bursary be used for?

The bursary can be used for expenses incurred whilst a student at Melbourne High School including:
School fees, Books, Excursions & Co-curricular activities involving any of Air Force Cadets, Army Cadets or Military Band.
The bursary (or any portion of it) cannot be disbursed as cash

Who can apply?
Applications are open to Melbourne High School students in year 9 who are experiencing financial hardship and meet the criteria for eligibility.  The sum of the bursary is $1000 per annum (with payments to continue in years 10 through 12 inclusive).
Applications from students in receipt of another MHS bursary or scholarship worth over $2,000 per annum will be accepted but given lower priority.

How do I apply?
Eligible students must submit a written Application Form (available from the Student Welfare Co-ordinator) detailing their family circumstances and explaining how they feel the bursary would impact their education at  Melbourne High School.

The completed application form should be sent to:
The Trustees of the MHS Scholarship Trust , Melbourne High School Foundation, Forrest Hill, South Yarra, Victoria 3141.
All applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on the last day of MHS Term 1 (Thursday 29th March 2018)
All applicants will be notified of selection outcomes in writing and bursary payments will be made in the month following final selection. Applicants may be invited to an interview.
