Melbourne High School is unique.

We are the only selective State School in Victoria for boys Years 9 to 12. The School has a long and proud history and is considered one of the finest schools in Australia, producing some of the greatest thinkers and leaders in the country.

While we are proudly a state school, government funding only assists to provide core school programs and basic facility maintenance. To continue to provide our students with a stimulating and supportive learning environment, we need the financial support of our community.

You can support us by contributing to three key projects that we believe will provide the most positive impact on our students. Every contribution no matter the value, will assist to provide the best opportunities for current and future students in our care.

We rely on the assistance from our community: parents, past students, friends, staff and others to ensure we can continue to provide an outstanding education for all students.

Please join us to continue the success of the past and building for the future.

Building for the Future

Our grand old building is nearing a Century and the “Castle on the Hill’, whilst spectacular from the outside, inside the classrooms and facilities are desperately in need of attention.

A Melbourne landmark, and listed on the Victorian Heritage register, the building has been forever changing but now needs significant internal modernisation to ensure facilities and technology meet the changing requirements within the classroom.

A striking design has been developed and we are excited by the opportunities that the redevelopment will provide students. Our aim is to complete the renovation of 40 classrooms by our 100-year anniversary in 2027.

To achieve this ambitious target, we need your support.

Our student’s wellbeing is Melbourne High School’s first priority. We aim to provide a school environment where our students can thrive.

The Health Promotion Hub – a centralised wellbeing service - provides facilities including private counselling rooms, a new nurse’s bay and a dedicated space for gender and age appropriate health and wellbeing programs.

Activities including seminars, workshops and mentoring will be available to all students and teachers as part of our approach to guide, encourage and assist our students to be their best – physically, academically and emotionally.

Your generous support will make these special programs possible.

Music, arts and culture continue to be a major focus at Melbourne High School and form a part of daily student life.

For many, music represents the soul of the School and its rich Arts program, which encompasses literary, visual and performing arts, is well known for its exceptional achievements.

Supporting past and present students, the Arts & Cultural Trust encourages ambition in these fields of endeavour.

Recently, funding was provided to support an exhibition of photographs by John Beaton, a very talented student who graduated in 2004 and died tragically in 2014. A collection of his work will be on public display at 45 Downstairs Gallery in Flinders Lane and is due to open mid-2017.

To benefit students immediately we need your support to purchase a new grand piano at a cost of $30,000, to replace the aging one currently used in the Music Department.

Whether you choose to support the broad activities of the Arts and Culture Program or the piano purchase specifically, we thank you most sincerely.
